The year is 2386...
A decade has passed since the end of the Dominion War. In that time, the Federation has enjoyed an unprecedented era of peace with its neighbors. To many, it would seem the powers of this region have grown tired of war, but to those of us in the know, such a thing would be too good to be true.
In reality, we all know what's really going on... why the Romulans insist on violating the Neutral Zone Border, why the Cardassians continue to send vessels into the Demilitarized Zone, and why Dominion forces in the Gamma Quadrant continue to inch closer and closer to the wormhole with each passing day. This peace, it would seem, is nothing more than a resting period for those hoping to one day strike again... this time, for the win...

In the years since the return of the USS Voyager, Starfleet has been hard at work doing their best to integrate as many of the vessel's numerous advances as possible into the design of new ships, including the recently refit Intrepid Class. The USS Frontier was one of the first ships to be completed which incorporates those innovative designs.
I am Ambassador Mordred Ocal, an El-Aurian diplomat who was, until very recently, quite content to teach at Starfleet Academy and go on the occasional mission to a new world. Of course, that was until Starfleet requested my assistance on the Frontier. Now I find myself surrounded by, what may very well be, the most intriguing crew I have ever encountered... a Klingon Diplomatic Officer with a rabid pet wolverine, a stubborn Borg and an even more stubborn EMH who insist of making each other's lives miserable, an alien Chef who is never at a loss for words, and several other random officers who spend most of their days trying (unsuccessfully) to keep the ship and themselves out of trouble.
Now, here's where you come in. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to have a character on a Starfleet ship... if you think you've got what it takes to go on long missions, engage enemy vessels, and save the ship from near destruction on a regular basis... or if you're just a really talented writer, we want YOU!
We are always looking for talented, unique characters to interact with (whether officers, civilians, or something else entirely), so please feel free to check out the site, and if you like what you see, consider submitting a formal application. It doesn't matter if you're new to the fray or an experienced simmer... on the USS Frontier, all are welcome :-)
So, I ask you now... can you help us maintain peace and protect the Federation? Are you ready to brave the Final Frontier?

Stardate: 63917.4
Location: Unexplored Space
Time: Morning, MD-01
The USS Frontier continues deeper into unexplored space, only to happen across a massive Dominion fleet assembling not too far from Cardassian space. The crew must decide whether to intervene on its own, or turn back and try to warn the Federation...

Star Trek Online - Who's In?

Before I begin the long process of hunting green dots (updating posts), I wanted to try one last time and see if we can get some sort of STO group together. I know that many of you will not be playing the new Star Trek Online game because it's expensive or because you are unhappy with it for some reason, but since I see this as a unique community-building opportunity for those of us in Horizon Fleet, I would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who's interested to contact me and let me know.
I will then assemble a list of usernames which everyone can add to their Friends List in the game, that way, during Open Beta (starting today) or when the game launches (Head Start 1/29, Official Start 2/2) you will know who your allies are and be able to go on missions with them.
If you have any questions about the game, please feel free to ask. I was in the Closed Beta over the past month and cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoyed the game, even though it is still a work in progress. Granted, it may not be everything I hoped for, but as far as online games go, I see this as one of the few things I want to be a part of for years to come :-) (Horizon Fleet and the USS Frontier are the others, of course)
If you happen to hear of anyone who's playing, please send them my way. In the meanwhile, let's see what we can do about finishing up this mission.
Hope you all had a fun and safe new year!
Sincerely,
Ambassador Mordred Ocal
Commanding Officer, USS Frontier

First off, I wanted to apologize for my absence since the holidays started. I was hoping to get on a bit more, but for obvious reasons, I wasn't able to. I will say, though, that I am VERY impressed by the work you guys have done in my absence, especially getting some of these posts ready for posting. I have already begun posting the stuff that is ready, and will log on again tomorrow night to prepare a new batch of posts for everyone, that way we can finally move this mission forward.
That said, I would like to welcome a new member of our crew who will be helping us to complete (and further complicate) this mission - Ensign Vaaya Enara. She will be appearing very soon as our new Mission Advisor from Starfleet, and the current tentative plan is that she was sent out here before the Frontier was to investigate rumors of Dominion activity very far from Cardassian space. Vaaya (the character) will quickly become a thorn in the side of our own characters, but the player behind her is actually quite friendly, so please welcome them to the crew :-)
Check back tomorrow for all sorts of fun mission updates.
I hope you all had an enjoyable, happy, and relaxing holiday season, and please continue to enjoy and take care of yourselves as we prepare to enter the New Year :-)
Warmest Wishes,
Ambassador Mordred Ocal
Commanding Officer, USS Frontier
